AI is Revolutionizing Work-Life Balance For US Business Leaders

  • 61% of US business leaders say AI has improved their work-life balance
  • ChatGPT is the most used AI tool among US business leaders
  • 93% of AI-using businesses are open to a 4-day work week

Tech.co’s 2025 Impact of Technology on the Workplace Report has revealed that AI is revolutionizing work-life balance for US business leaders, with 61% saying it’s improved their work-life balance.

How business leaders utilize AI

Tech.co surveyed 1,036 senior leaders based in the US to identify the most common ways that AI is being used:

  1. Writing tasks (such as emails, reports, and presentations) – 43%
  2. Data analysis – 37%
  3. Customer support and chatbots – 33%
  4. Design tasks (i.e. creating images and graphics) – 25%

The Tech.co report also highlights a significant 17% increase in adoption of AI for writing tasks compared to the previous year

How AI improves work-life balance

  • AI-automated tasks = more time & greater productivity

AI-automated tasks can create additional free time for senior business leaders to tackle more complex or strategic-level tasks

This increased efficiency could also lead to improved productivity and a higher return on investment.

  • AI facilitates the 4 day work week

The Tech.co survey data also reveals that 93% of businesses using AI are open to a 4-day work week, compared to 44% of businesses that don’t use AI.

Findings from last year’s report showed that 72% of business leaders who used AI extensively reported high organizational productivity.

ChatGPT is the most used AI tool among US business leaders

73% of AI-using US business leaders used ChatGPT to complete work tasks in 2024.

However, Microsoft has made significant gains with 39% more senior leaders using it compared to the previous year. This could be due to its incorporation into other Microsoft products such as its office suite.

In last place is Google’s Gemini chatbot. Despite its re-brand, the AI tool has lost a good portion (-13%) of its market share amongst US business leaders

Editor of Tech.co, Jack Turner, comments:

“For all the fears of AI replacing jobs, Tech.co’s latest research has found that the technology is actually helping many of us with time consuming tasks such as writing and data analysis. This is easing the pressure on workers, and increasing productivity.

Just as the introduction of the assembly line allowed Henry Ford to revolutionize mass production methods and introduce a 5-day week for employees, AI could well prove the next logical step, and pave the way for the 4-day week.

We already know that companies which use AI are more likely to consider shortening the work week than those who don’t.”
